At Dyers Store Volunteer Fire Department, community engagement means more than responding to emergencies it means investing in the next generation.

Our Deputy Chief Jerry Perdue and member Jason Sturm recently spent time with the Mt. Vernon Baptist Church KOZ teaching hunting and fishing skills, sharing knowledge, stories, and life lessons along the way. 🎣🦌

While firefighting is a huge part of what we do, having strong men and women in our department who are willing to step up, mentor, and be positive role models for our youth is just as important. Building relationships in the community today helps build stronger futures tomorrow.

Thank you, Deputy Chief Perdue and Jason Sturm for representing our department and community so well! 🚒❤️

🔥 Fire Fact Friday 🔥

Did you know that sleeping with your bedroom door CLOSED at night can help save your life during a fire? 🚪🔥

A closed door can help slow the spread of:
✔️ Fire
✔️ Deadly smoke
✔️ Toxic gases
✔️ Extreme heat

In many house fires, a closed door can keep a room survivable for much longer, giving you and your family more time to escape safely. ❤️

Tonight before bed:
🚨 Check your smoke alarms
🚪 Close bedroom doors
🗺️ Review your family escape plan

Simple steps can make a big difference. Stay safe! 🚒

Today we would like to highlight some awesome community engagement by our very own members, Katlyn and Zachary Wilson! 🚒❤️

They spent time in Ms. Katlyn’s classroom connecting with students and sharing the importance of fire safety, teamwork, and helping others in our community. The kids had a great time learning, asking questions, and getting a closer look at what it means to serve.

Moments like these are what it’s all about building relationships, inspiring the next generation, and making a positive impact right here at home.

Thank you, Katlyn and Zachary, for representing our department so well and for investing in our future! 👏🔥

🔥🚒 Fire Fact Friday 🚒🔥

Did you know that closed doors can slow the spread of fire, heat, and toxic smoke? 🚪🔥

A simple closed door could mean the difference between a survivable space and a dangerous one during a house fire.

🛑 Safety Tip:
Get into the habit of sleeping with bedroom doors closed and teach your family to close doors behind them as they exit during a fire.

It’s a small step that can make a BIG difference.

🚒 Fire Fact 🚒

Most people don’t realize this… when you call 911 in many communities, it’s not a full-time paid crew responding it’s your neighbors.

Volunteer firefighters leave their homes, jobs, and families at a moment’s notice to answer that call day or night, rain or shine.

❤️ They don’t do it for a paycheck.
🔥 They do it because someone needs help.

And right now… we need more people willing to step up.

🚨 We are actively accepting applications for volunteer members! 🚨

You don’t need experience just dedication, a willingness to learn, and a heart to serve. We’ll provide the training, gear, and support to help you succeed.

Whether you want to be on the front lines or support behind the scenes, there’s a place for you here.

📩 Message us today to get started or ask questions.

It’s more than a department it’s a family. Are you ready to answer the call? 🚒🔥

Not only do we fight fire, run wreck & rescue calls, but we also rescue lost puppies 🐾🐾🐶! Tonight Buddy found himself in a terrible situation in the middle of the road. Thankfully Rik was able to stop & pick him up & contact his owner for a safe return home! ❤️ DSVFD

This morning, we had the honor of having some of our members attend Mt. Vernon Baptist Church for a special community outreach with both the boys and girls of their youth programs 🙌❤️

For the boys, they participated in Kids Outdoor Zone (KOZ) a mentorship-based program that uses outdoor activities like fishing, camping, and hands-on experiences to help guide young men. KOZ focuses on building strong character, life skills, and faith through positive male role models who invest in the next generation 🎣🔥

At the same time, the girls were involved in Girls in Action a missions-focused discipleship program that encourages young girls to grow in their faith, serve others, and understand their purpose in God’s plan. Through activities, service projects, and learning opportunities, these girls are being shaped into confident, faith-filled leaders 💕🌎

Opportunities like this are what community is all about coming together to pour into our youth, support one another, and help guide the next generation in the right direction.

We are incredibly proud of our members for taking the time to invest in these young lives. The impact may seem small in the moment, but it lasts a lifetime ❤️

Thank you to Mt. Vernon Baptist Church for allowing us to be part of such a meaningful outreach!

🔥💙

Severe weather is possible in our area, and conditions can change quickly. We encourage everyone to stay alert and take a few moments to prepare.

Strong winds, hail, falling trees, power outages, and even the possibility of tornadoes can happen during severe storms. Securing outdoor items, charging your devices, and knowing where to take shelter can make a big difference in keeping your family safe.
