WPHD works with the people of Franklin, Henry and Patrick counties and with the city of Martinsville to anticipate, prevent, mitigate, prepare for and respond to situations and events that could become or have become significant public health concerns. Our local health departments provide the following services: immunizations, sexually transmitted infection testing and treatment, communicable dise

ase control, family planning, health education, vital statistics, nursing home screenings, tuberculosis, breast and cervical cancer early screening & detection, WIC, baby care, pregnancy testing, child safety seat program, newborn screening, children’s specialty services, rabies control, sewage and well inspections and permits, drinking water information, restaurant permits and inspections, and emergency and disaster planning.
