🚩Red Flag Warning in effect in Yuba County today and tomorrow! 🚩

The combination of gusty winds, low humidity and dry vegetation mean critical fire weather conditions. Please do your part to help prevent fires and keep our communities safe.

🔥 Avoid activities that could spark a fire
🚗 Never park on dry grass
🚛 Secure trailer chains to prevent sparks
📱 Stay alert and be ready to receive emergency notifications

🚩 RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT 🚩

Critical fire weather is expected across portions of the northern Sacramento Valley from Wednesday morning through Thursday afternoon.

Strong north winds, low humidity, and dry vegetation will create conditions where any new fire could spread quickly.

Be ready, not reactive. Pack a go bag, make sure emergency alerts are enabled, and take time to prepare your home and family in case an evacuation becomes necessary.

Stay informed, stay prepared, and stay aware.

Our utility workers play a crucial role in our day-to-day operations, including maintaining our hydroelectric power generation, flood risk reduction and recreation facilities in Yuba County. They are also key to helping our recovery efforts at New Colgate Powerhouse following the penstock rupture, clearing and cleaning dirt and sediment.

In our latest Faces of Yuba Water, get to know Utility Worker Brenden O'Hagan and learn more about his background, his role at Yuba Water and some of his unique hobbies: bit.ly/4uQVAxJ

🚛🌲Heads up, North Yuba watershed residents and visitors!

Several forest health and wildfire risk reduction projects are getting underway this summer across the North Yuba River watershed. If you're traveling through the area, you may notice more trucks on local roads and highways and occasional impacts to access on some Forest Service roads and recreation areas.

This work is part of the North Yuba Forest Partnership, a collaborative effort that includes Yuba Water and many other partners working to improve forest health and reduce the risk of catastrophic wildfire in our watershed.

Read more about the planned work and check out a project map at yubaforest.org/projects.

On this day in 1959, the Yuba County Water Agency Act was signed, creating our agency as a special district "to develop and promote the beneficial use of the water resources of Yuba County."

Created to address two critical challenges – too much water and too little – Yuba Water has spent the last 67 years balancing these extremes through strategic investments in flood risk reduction, water supply reliability, hydropower, environmental stewardship and more.

While much has changed over the decades, our commitment to our core missions and the people of Yuba County remains as strong as ever.
