Mark Your Calendars!

USWCD Annual Tree Sale is April 18, 2026, @ 9:00 am - Noon or until SOLD OUT

Ordering: We do not accept orders before the sale. All of the stock is seedlings. Please make selections below and bring the completed form with you on the day of the sale. After confirming that all desired species are still available, we will total your order. We accept Cash and Checks only; we do not accept credit cards.

Sale: The sale is on a first-come, first-served basis. Once a species is sold out, it will no longer be available for purchase. Come early if you have a specific need! Any remaining seedlings not sold during the sale will be sold the following week, Monday-Friday, 8 am - 4:30 pm, in the Union SWCD office in Suite D of the Union County Agricultural Center.

Tree Prep/Planting: The trees are root trees, which means that the plant has not been in a pot. Instead, they are dormant trees with no soil around their roots. Our staff dip the roots in a preservative gel and place them in a plastic bag. The seedlings should be placed directly into your garden or a permanent pot while they are still dormant to maximize their chances of surviving.

We are currently accepting orders for Tilapia until May 15, 2026.

Why Should Pond Owners Stock Tilapia?
• Tilapia eat many of the common types of filamentous algae,
blue-green algae, chara, duckweed, watermeal, and nuisance
rooted aquatic vegetation. Works well with the amur, which
does not prefer these types of algae
• Prolific breeders, spawn every 18 to 21 days and lay up to
1500 eggs per female
• Fish spawn when they reach 4” \ water temperature is above
68 F
• The babies are the ones who put the biggest strain on the
algae \by converting vegetation into bait fish for your
predator fish.
• Reduce demand on minnows and Amurs
• Increase the size and population of other fish in your pond.
• Fall temperatures cause fish to slow down, allowing predator
fish of all sizes to gorge themselves just in time for winter
• Most Eco-Friendly solution to controlling algae, no more
chemicals
