Seth Stemen for MJUSD School Board, Trustee Area 4 It's time for parents to protect their children's innocence, and say NO to the state's and union's agenda, and it's perverse version of morality.

I know the community is largely unhappy with this new state law, as am I, and I'd like to reiterate what this press release states. This is not a board or district decision. "Indians" has been worn as a badge of honor for a century. The "Indians" mascot was chosen to enshrine in honor of our local tribes, like the Maidu/Nisenan into the bedrock of our community. It's unfortunate that we have not been successful in getting the sponsorship from our local tribes to keep the mascot. But we are not done. We are continuing to find a way to keep our beloved mascot.
In the meantime, the mascot name and portrait of the Chief will remain on the side of our building to see as everyone drives by. The district will refrain from choosing a new mascot in hopes that we successfully find a tribe willing to sponsor it.
I'm heartened to see the support for the "Indians" from our community. Let's keep it up, as we continue looking for a sponsor!

Please come and listen to Sonja Shaw this Saturday, Jan 17 in Marysville, as she speaks about the challenges we face in CA with our current education system.

She is the president of the school board for Chino Valley. Most importantly she is a mother who is concerned about what is happening in CA. She is a fierce defender of family values, morality, and truth. Something severely lacking currently in California's education system.

Tickets are free, and donations are welcome. RSVP quickly!

At tonight's board meeting, myself and the rest of the board voted unanimously to pass my proposed policy change to keep our children safe and protected from potential predators who seek to take advantage of the recently passed AB495. With this board approval, a new multi-layer process will be in place to vet and confirm parental approval if/when the affidavit is presented. Please everyone, review your emergency contact list at your child's school, and add as many trusted contacts as you can!

As a board member, I am pleased with our accomplishment, and most importantly, as a parent, I'm relieved that our kids will be safe.

On a side note, I received word lastnight that this policy has made it's rounds across the state, and is being adopted by multiple school districts all over! Praise God for that!

Thank you everyone for the ongoing support. Your families have mine!

Merry Christmas!
