I had an amazing time working with the Yuba-Sutter Veterans Stand Down, and we wanted to help show our community just how special this event truly is. 🇺🇸

The Stand Down brings so many important resources together in one place for local veterans, along with breakfast, lunch, support, and most importantly, people who genuinely care.

I personally had the opportunity to sit down and speak with several veterans, listen to their stories, hear how the Stand Down has helped them, and simply talk about how they are doing. Those conversations meant a lot to me and were a powerful reminder of why events like this are so important to our community.

Thank you to the entire Yuba Sutter Veterans Stand Down staff and all of the volunteers for inviting me out and for everything you do for our local veterans.

And a huge thank you to everyone who was willing to step in front of the camera, share your story, and speak about your passion for supporting our veterans.

Thank You, Yuba-Sutter! 🇺🇸

Thank you for making our 2026 Yuba-Sutter Veterans Stand Down a tremendous success!

To all of our incredible providers, volunteers, donors, sponsors, and our entire community, your support was simply paramount. It is because of your generosity, dedication, and willingness to step up that we are able to provide the resources, services, and support our veterans deserve.

And most importantly, thank you to all of our veterans who gave us the opportunity to serve you. It is truly our honor and privilege.

This is what community looks like. This is what service looks like. And this is what happens when we come together for those who have served our nation.

From all of us at Yuba-Sutter Stand Down, THANK YOU! 🇺🇸❤️

Although our Stand Down Gates are closed we are a 365 day operation. So until our formal Stand Down next year… 19-21 August 2027 we WILL keep serving, keep supporting, and keep taking care of our veterans! 🇺🇸

Real leadership shows up when no one is clapping or looking.

That is exactly what epitomizes our Board President, Mike Nichols, and Vice Board President, David Stroud.

Yesterday during Stand Down, a woman approached me about needing a ramp installed at a Veteran’s home. I directed her to Mike, and Mike immediately connected with David.

Quite honestly, with everything these guys had going on during Stand Down, I figured this would be something they would tackle after the event.

Nope.

David immediately engaged his network, and the pictures you see happened YESTERDAY EVENING the very same day help was requested!

THAT RIGHT THERE is what Stand Down is all about. It is what THEY are all about!

For David it was about seeing a need, finding a way to help, and getting it done. No fanfare, no certificates, no waiting no asking who gets the credit.

These two are simply SPECTACULAR!

And I know they don't do this for recognition. In fact, I’m pretty sure I’m going to get called on the carpet for posting this. 😂

But my words carry nothing but the truth.

Mike and Dave thank you for living the mission when nobody is watching. You epitomize Servant Leadership. That is true service this is Stand Down. 🇺🇸

Veterans helping Veterans. That’s what we do.
