Ethnic studies: Everyone is an oppressor, even the teacher. Let the kids run the class.

A controversial ethnic studies workshop in a San Francisco school raised discussions about “adultism” and the idea of teachers as oppressors.

Many have heard about the crazy bill SB 73, which prohibits law enforcement investigations into ballot discrepancies. I opposed this bill, and here is my questioning in committee of the author, who provided no real justification for it. They passed it anyway.

This is another atrocious act by California’s supermajority. They rig elections through redistricting, and now they don’t even want irregularities investigated. They want total domination and control.

Congratulations to the local families who received the keys to homes they helped build through the Community Housing Improvement Program (CHIP). A great example of hard work, community partnership, and the dream of homeownership becoming a reality.

helps wildfire survivors get the compensation they deserve to rebuild their lives. I'm proud to stand with them.

Did you buy a grapevine at a Northern California Costco between April 21 & May 19?

New counties have been added to the list of affected areas. The invasive glassy-winged sharpshooter has been found on grapevines sold at these locations. This pest is a serious threat to vineyards, backyard gardens & other plants.

Check the updated list of counties and learn what to do right now: https://bit.ly/GWSS-Costco

GREAT NEWS!

AB 2700, our bill to fully compensate wildfire survivors, has PASSED the State Assembly.

I’m grateful to the survivors, families, and advocates who kept pushing this forward. Many of you have been living with the damage and loss for years, and you made sure your voices were heard.

This bill helps those who lost everything in these wildfires get the full support they are owed. They have waited long enough.

It now moves to the Senate. We will keep working to get it across the finish line.

Thank you to everyone who helped get us here.

Prop 36 cracked down on retail theft and passed with nearly 70% of the vote. Californians spoke clearly. But yesterday, Assembly Democrats passed another bad bill rolling back key parts of Prop 36. California Assembly Republicans voted NO.

LEGISLATIVE UPDATE:

In addition to roasting some of the most ridiculous bills, I supported and passed the following measures:

A bill that I have joint authored with Assemblyman Stan Ellis to streamline and fast track more fuel reduction projects around vulnerable communities. This is my THIRD time with this legislation. Last year, we passed it on a bi-partisan vote in the Assembly only to have it secretly killed in the Appropriations Committee (no vote, held in suspense) in the Senate.

Another bill to allow the greater use of prescribed fire to reduce fuel loads.

A bill to require data centers have to secure their their own power and show no impact to other electricity consumers.

A bill that established a certification for “non-ultra processed food” so consumers have more information and options to purchase healthy food for their families.

This bill would ban people who work in immigration enforcement from holding future government jobs in California. California Assembly Republicans and I voted NO on this discriminatory bill.
