Listening to this morning’s hearing brought back a stark reminder of just how far government went during the pandemic. Especially in California. Fear and intimidation were used to silence anyone who questioned the approved narrative on lockdowns, which was actually a departure from long held protocols on how to deal with pandemics. The hysteria led those in power to usher in massive shutdowns instead of quarantining the sick and protecting the most vulnerable. It is clear now: this inflicted far more harm than it prevented in practice. Dr. Fauci was the poster child for unelected bureaucrats and government "experts" who overruled countless public health professionals, academics, and physicians warning that they had gone too far.
We abandoned our republic and ruled by executive order. We masked 2 year olds. We kept kids out of the classroom for far too long. They ruined small businesses and restaurants. We were told that Hollywood is “essential” and main street is not. They pushed vaccine mandates in the workplace and places of learning. Houses of worship were shut down while mass protests were enabled. Time and again, fundamental liberties were cast aside in the name of "stopping the spread." It didn’t work and it was wrong.
Never, never again.
