I’ve been fortunate to serve as the Honorary Commander for the 1st Reconnaissance Squadron (1 RS) at Beale Air Force Base over the past year.

Today, I attended a unique joint change of command ceremony for both the 1 RS and the 99 RS.

I’ve greatly enjoyed having Lt. Col. “Jester” Mattson as my host commander. He is a great American, and I’m fortunate to count him as a friend. We are all fortunate to have leaders like him serving in our nation’s armed forces, and I wish him the very best in his next assignment.

I’m also excited to get to know the new 1 RS commander, Lt. Col. “Bout” Luddington, and look forward to continuing the strong partnership between Beale AFB and our local communities.

Thank you to all the Airmen, Guardians, civilians, and families who support the critical reconnaissance mission carried out at Beale every day.

Every Yuba County Supervisor receives $10,000 annually in District Priority Funds to support local non-profits and government organizations serving our residents.

At our most recent Board meeting, we unanimously approved funding for three youth-focused programs:

• $7,000 for environmental education through the Yuba County Office of Education Educational Foundation
• $1,200 to support affordable youth soccer opportunities in Plumas Lake
• $5,000 for free youth transit passes through Yuba-Sutter Transit

These investments help connect young people to education, recreation, and opportunity while strengthening our community.

Thank you to the organizations making a difference in the lives of Yuba County youth!
