This is Andrea Paul:
Well everyone, it’s time for me to sign off with the Liberty Little Library. Ten years ago when I told my husband I wanted a little library for my birthday he might have thought it was a crazy idea, but you all have shown such love through the years. It was fun for my own kids to see what new books were left. I told the Zylinskis, the new owners of our home and library, that I’ve been asked about vandalism, and not once has there ever been anything disrespectuful. You all have been amazing. You’ve kept the library well stocked. This journey has been a joy!
On this day in 2014 construction began by Tiki Republic, who never builds this sort of thing, but they were so very kind to take on the project. The library was installed later that month, and the ribbon cutting ceremony was Nov. 1 in the snow. I still have a Liberty Little Library decal on my van thanks to Tracey Burns Larson of His Will, His Way Crafts & Crochet, who even brought her kids to that snowy ribbon cutting. The Fair & Powers families both donated money to get the library up and running, and the first book donation was from the Seely family. From the start, our neighborhood showed such support! I believe The Liberty Little Library was the first Little Free Library in Marysville. Richie and Jeanne of Tiki Republic redid the library in 2023, so it’s ready for many years to come.
Our kids were little when the library was installed; ten years goes so quickly. I always thought I’d be a little old lady hobbling out to the library to rearrange and put in new books because that was our forever home. Yet, sometimes life is unexpected and here we are. We are still in Marysville, so this is truly “See you around.” We have so many friends in the neighborhood, we’ll be back, and see you in June for The C.L.A.P.
