Do you have overdue fines? Then utilize our June fine relief program: Food for Fines before the month ends. Bring in unopened, unexpired, nonperishable food (there must be an expiration date clearly marked on the item, and with a minimum of six months expiration date) to pay off fines. For each item donated, $1 will be waived in overdue fines (We will wave up to $50 in fines per account).

Donations go toward overdue fines and do not cover the cost of replacement library cards or lost and damaged materials. This program is only for the month of June. For more information, please call: (530) 749 7380. All donations will be turned over to Yuba County Health & Human Services, who will work with local non-profit agencies that assist families and individuals in need.

Yesterday (6/22) we were fired up in story time as we had a special guest, the We did stretches, learned stop, drop, and roll; along with listening to three firefighter themed books. We were just about to learn about a firefighter’s gear when the crew got a call and had to speed away to help someone in need. After the Marysville Fire Department left, the kids made a paper fire hat and were given plastic fire hats and stickers from the Marysville Fire Department. If you missed this fun story time, next Monday (6/29) we have a special construction themed story time with Yuba County Administrative Services.

Change of plans! 👏
We previously announced that our temporary library facility at the Yuba County Government Center would close on July 2 as we prepared to move back into our newly-renovated space.
BUT-- we are no longer closing on that date due to schedule adjustments on the renovation project. We will remain OPEN at the Government Center Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
We'll continue to share updates and announce an opening date of the new space as it is finalized. We look forward to continuing to serve local families and providing a welcoming space for summer activities and reading programs at our temporary library space! ☀️

On June 11th we had a tasty treat as story time was joined by Red the robin from Red Robin Gourmet Burgers! Red brought two of their friends who read the books "Let's Make Burgers" and "Pizzasaurus". Kids made a little burger pal, took their photo with red, and were even given a special gift from Red Robin.

Here is a photo from October's story time when we were reading books on the alphabet. The theme of the day was "the Letter J" and we read "The Jazzy Alphabet" by Sherry Shahan. After listening to the story children made J shaped saxophones. One of our patrons was very proud of the Star Wars picture she colored and wanted us to include that in our photos instead of their saxophone craft. This week we have the Marysville Fire Department joining us for Monday, June 22nd, at the Yuba County Government Center (10AM); along with story time Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday at 10AM at Health and Human Services. We do not have Baby Bounce this week as we will be at the Marysville Post-Acute Health Fair. We hope to see you at story time!

Last week the library was joined by the American Red Cross for their water safety program WHALE Tales (Water Habits Are Learned Early). Visitors from the Red Cross shared how we can be water smart, giving the children on tips to remember any time we are around pools, rivers, or lakes. Afterwards Yuba County Health & Human Services handed out our donated life jackets, showing parents and kids how they should properly fit. If interested in learning more about the Red Cross' Water Safety program check out their website: https://www.redcross.org/take-a-class/teach-water-safety/whale-tales/lesson-1

On Tuesday, June 9th, we had a change to our story time roster as outfielder Christian Castaneda led story time. Children did some pre-game stretches, played a baseball scavenger hunt game, and listened to the books "Pete the Cat: Play Ball" and "Goofy at Bat". Afterwards we made our own Willie the Rooster paper bag puppet. If you missed this story time, we still have two upcoming community helper story times planned this month. On June 22nd the Marysville Fire Department will join us, followed by a construction themed story time with Administrative Services on June 29th. We hope to have you join us!

Yesterday (6/17) the Bi-County Ambulance returned for story time! We read the books Let’s Go Ambulance and Rescue Vehicles. After story time the kids were able to climb inside the ambulance, try on medical gloves, and try out some of the medical equipment. Afterwards everyone made a cute ambulance craft.
