The Child Care Planning Council and MJUSD Child Development Program recently hosted Building Bridges Inclusion Academy, the third local inclusion conference dedicated to supporting children ages 2-5 across Yuba, Sutter, and Colusa counties.
The conference welcomed educators, administrators, and early learning professionals from local districts and community-based programs, Marysville Joint Unified School District - MJUSD, Colusa County Office of Education, and Yuba City Unified School District, ycusd. Together, participants explored innovative strategies for fostering inclusive classrooms where every child can learn, grow, and belong.

📣 IMPORTANT UPDATE: NEW ELEMENTARY SCHOOL BOUNDARIES FOR 2027–28

With the opening of Plumas Lake Junior High in 2027–28, PLESD will transition to three TK–6 elementary schools:

🟧 Rio Del Oro Elementary
🟩 Cobblestone Elementary
🟦 Riverside Meadows Elementary

To prepare for this transition, PLESD worked with King Consulting to review enrollment, school capacity, neighborhood locations, future housing growth, and transportation needs. Following this review, the Governing Board unanimously approved new elementary school boundaries for 2027–28.

The new boundaries are designed to balance enrollment, plan for continued community growth, keep students near their neighborhood schools when possible, and prepare Riverside Meadows to become a TK–6 elementary school.

📍 What families need to know:
• New boundaries begin in 2027–28 — there are NO boundary changes for the current 2026–27 school year.
• All three elementary schools will serve TK–6 students.
• Plumas Lake Junior High will serve grades 7–8.
• Students will attend the school assigned to their home address under the new boundaries. There will not be a grandfathering option.
• Some neighborhoods east of Highway 70 will be divided between Cobblestone and Riverside Meadows to help balance enrollment and accommodate future growth.
