🚀🌟 Our Lions had an out-of-this-world opportunity! 🌟🚀

Our students had the chance to interact with a real astronaut, Dr. Tess Caswell! 🧑‍🚀✨ Dr. Caswell graciously spent time with our Lions, sharing stories about her work, discussing space exploration, and answering students' questions about the universe. The thoughtful and insightful questions our Lions asked were truly impressive! 🌎🌙⭐

This incredible experience was made possible by one of our amazing new staff members, Mrs. Tallman. ❤️ In the winter, our students enjoyed the Pacific Science Center experience, but because Sunnyside has grown by more than 100 students in just over a year, not every classroom was able to participate in all of the exhibits. Mrs. Tallman saw an opportunity to ensure every Lion had an unforgettable science experience and worked to make it happen. 🦁🔬

As a result, the classes that missed out on the preferred exhibit were able to attend a special assembly featuring a real-life astronaut! Dr. Caswell has been actively involved with recent Artemis projects, helping inspire the next generation of explorers and innovators. 🚀🌕✨

What a fun and inspiring experience for our students! Thank you, Mrs. Tallman and Dr. Caswell, for helping our Lions dream big, reach for the stars, and see that anything is possible. 💫🦁❤️

🏃‍♀️🦁💛 Our Sunnyside Lions are on the move! 💛🦁🏃‍♀️

We are SO proud of our incredible Girls on the Run club here at Sunnyside Elementary! These amazing students have been putting in the work 💪, showing up with determination, and preparing for their upcoming 5K later this month! 🎉👟

Each practice is filled with energy, laughter, and growth 🌟. Through Girls on the Run, our Lions are building strong friendships 🤝, gaining confidence 💖, and learning lifelong skills like perseverance, healthy habits, and positive decision-making. This national nonprofit program creates a space where students feel supported, empowered, and ready to take on challenges, both on and off the track! 🛤️✨

This is such a powerful example of what makes Sunnyside special 💛 Staff members who generously volunteer their time to lift up our students, and Lions who are committed to becoming their very best selves 🦁🔥

We can’t wait to cheer them on at the 5K! Let’s go, Lions!!! 🎉👏

🦁 We See Your ROAR! 🦁

Today we are proud to celebrate an incredible member of our Sunnyside family: Jennifer Jensen! 💛

Jen is someone you can always count on… always! Whether it’s supporting a classroom, helping with an art project, jumping in at a PTSA event, or stepping up wherever there’s a need; Jen is there without hesitation. 🙌

At Sunnyside, we talk a lot about Bucket Filling, and Jen is the ultimate example of what that truly means. 🪣✨ She shows up, supports, and gives. Not for recognition, but simply because it brings joy to her and to those around her. That kind of selfless care is something really special.

What makes Jen even more amazing is all the work she does behind the scenes. So much of her impact goes unseen, but it is deeply felt across our entire community. 💫 As our liaison to Kids Kloset and Kloz 4 Kidz, she makes sure students have what they need. Even as I’m writing this, she’s currently delivering clothes to kids who need them. ❤️

Jen, we see you. We appreciate you. And we are so grateful to have you as part of our Lion community! 🦁💛

📣 Calling all Sunnyside families with girls in grades 3rd-6th! 📣 Last month a flyer for an afterschool program called Girls on the Run went home. This is an afterschool program where girls have fun, make friends, increase physical activity levels and learn important life skills they can use at home, at school and with friends.

🦁💛 Everybody Club Day at Sunnyside Elementary! 💛🦁

Today was another AMAZING day of Everybody Club! 🎉✨ We absolutely LOVE our Everybody Club days at Sunnyside!

Everybody Club was a student-led idea born out of a simple but powerful belief:
👉 Every Lion deserves to belong.

From 💻 coding to 🌱 gardening to 🎨 art to 📚 scrapbooking (and so much more!), each of our 570 Lions gets to connect around a shared interest with a staff member who shares that same passion. ❤️

There is something incredibly powerful about walking into classrooms and seeing students light up because they are part of something that feels like theirs. Every month, we look forward to this time when we know that every single Lion feels a sense of belonging through a mutual interest. 🫶✨

Everybody Club also fits so nicely with our theme this year:
"You’ll Never Walk Alone."

At Sunnyside, we truly believe that nobody should walk alone. Everybody Club is one more way we live that out each and every month. 💛🦁
