Rush Strong Elementary School In honor of philanthropist, Rush Strong, Rush Strong School was opened in 1921. This page is dedicat Kenneth Cornett.

Taken from the book, "Images of America, Blount County" by Linda Braden Albert, B. "Rush Strong School, named for Knoxville philanthropist Rush Strong, opened in 1921 on Mint Road. Strong left $1,000 to a number of counties with the stipulation that a school be built and named after him, which Blount County did. The school's doors closed in the 1980's, and the building was subsequently modified and turned into apartments."
