Itβs National Public Safety Telecommunications Week! Your Dispatchers at the Northwest Regional Communications Center would like to thank community members and our agencies who are helping us celebrate!
π±βοΈHere are a few tips for calling our favorite number, 911! βοΈπ±
IS A PERSON HURT OR IN DANGER? πππ
9-1-1 is for any serious situation where a law enforcement, firefighters, or emergency medical help is needed immediately.
IF YOU CALL 9-1-1, EVEN BY MISTAKE, DO NOT HANG UP. π£οΈπ
9-1-1 call takers are trained to get the most important information as quickly as possible. If you happen to call by accident, stay on the line to confirm there is no emergency. Remember, our asking questions does not delay response, it enhances it! Help is often on the way, before our call is over!
WHEN CALLING 9-1-1 DO YOUR BEST TO STAY CALM AND ANSWER ALL QUESTIONS.π§
It may be difficult, but itβs important!
KNOW THE LOCATION OF THE EMERGENCY.ππΊοΈ
Know and clearly post the address to your home and business (visible day and night). Know what road you are traveling, look for landmarks, cross street signs and buildings. Know the name of the community you are in (or near).
TEACH YOUR AGE APPROPRIATE CHILDREN HOW TO CALL 9-1-1.π§βπ§βπ§βπ§
Be sure they know what 9-1-1 is for, how to dial from your phone, and to trust the 9-1-1 call taker.
