The Nodaway County Sheriff's Office submitted Branson's case to the FBI to be included in the most recent deck of Missouri Cold Case Playing Cards and we are proud to announce it was selected!

The cold case card deck is a cooperated effort between the FBI, Missouri Attorney General, Missouri State Highway Patrol, and Missouri Department of Corrections. The deck features 52 cold cases across Missouri and each card includes the investigating agency, a name and picture, a brief summary of the case, and four different ways tips can be submitted.

Not only can these cards be handed out physically within correctional facilities and jails, there is a digital deck which can be streamed onto tablets for use in facilities that don't have cards.

Tonight, the Nodaway County Sheriff’s Office entered two teams in the First Responder Eating Competition. If you weren’t there to watch, you missed out! The sheriff’s office was represented by a deputy team and a jail team. The patrol team came away with the win, keeping the traveling plaque at the sheriff’s office for another year. This year was special as myself, Deputy Clements, and Deputy Murphy teamed up together again like a blast from the past. Thank you to the Nodaway County Fair for putting this together for all agencies.

Yesterday, Sheriff Hann got the honor of receiving Busy Bags from Asher’s Angels. The bags were put together by Leadership Maryville and allow each deputy to have items like stuffed animals, coloring books, fidgets, and playdoh for children to have whenever we are called to an incident involving a child. Thank you for thinking of the Nodaway County Sheriff’s Office and helping make every contact we have even better!

Leadership Maryville Cohort #39 donated 25 Busy Bags to Asher’s Angels. Participants donated items & packed the bags, presenting them to the Nodaway County Sheriff Department today.

“This investigation and subsequent operation resulted not only in the recovery of a missing and endangered juvenile, but also in the arrest of convicted felons with fi****ms and controlled substances. Cases like this demonstrate the direct connection between illegal drug activity and the dangers posed to our communities and our children. I am proud of the work done by our deputies and law enforcement partners throughout this entire operation.”

"I’m incredibly proud of my deputies and the quick coordination between the Nodaway County Sheriff’s Office, the United States Marshals Service, New Mexico State Police, and all assisting agencies in New Mexico. As a result of everyone’s collective efforts, two endangered juveniles were safely recovered and a suspect was taken into custody without incident, all within a matter of hours. As we continue throughout our day today, please take a moment to remember all of the brave men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice. I encourage you to consider the loved ones who have had to say goodbye and think of the freedoms we are able to enjoy because of those sacrifices which have been made.

⚠️ WEATHER UPDATE ⚠️

Nodaway County is now experiencing flooding over roadways in multiple locations. At this time we are seeing all types of roadways being affected…. City streets, county roads, and state highways.

Please DO NOT drive through water covering a roadway. Here are a few things flooding does that make it so dangerous:

1) It can be deceptive how deep the water actually is

2) Water over a road makes it impossible to tell if the roadway has been washed out, creating another hazard

3) It takes only a small amount of moving water to completely wash a vehicle off the roadway

Please be safe and take your time if you have to travel. Never cross a flooded roadway.
