Mark your calendars because you won't want to miss this one... Bobby's Roadway Safety Palooza... one of our biggest roadway safety pop-ups of the year. It is scheduled for Saturday, September 19, as part of NWMSU's Family Weekend festivities.

We will be partnering with Northwest Missouri State University Police Department for the event. Our crew will be set up in the Raymond J. Courter College Park Pavilion on the NWMSU campus from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. with the seatbelt convincer, driving simulators, trivia wheels, co****le, impairment goggles and more.

Stop by and see us before you go in the stadium to cheer for the Bearcats!

Resurfacing to begin on Nodaway County Routes E, EE and Nodaway/Atchison Route 46

The Missouri Department of Transportation has contracted with Herzog Contracting Corp. to resurface Nodaway County Routes E and EE and Nodaway/Atchison County Route 46 from U.S. Route 59 to the Nodaway River. Below are tentative resurfacing start dates with all work expected to be complete in November 2026.

Route E – Tuesday, Sept. 8.

Route EE – Monday, Sept. 14.

Route 46 – Monday, Sept. 23.

Traffic Impacts: The roadway will be narrowed to one lane with flaggers and pilot cars. Motorists should expect delays. A 10-foot width restriction will be in place.

All work is weather-permitting, and schedules are subject to change. Coming Soon: FY2027 NAP Round 2 Application Cycle

The FY27 Neighborhood Assistance Program (NAP) Round 2 application cycle will open on Monday, September 14, 2026, with a submission deadline of 5:00 p.m. on Friday, October 23, 2026.

To assist organizations with the application process, DED will host a virtual workshop on September 22, 2026. Attendance is strongly encouraged to help you better understand the program and prepare the strongest application possible.

Jerri and Bethany are in Council Bluffs to attend the Missouri, Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas Planning District Conference 2026 where they are meeting and learning with staff members from other regional planning commissions and councils of government from the 4-state region on topics like Revitalizing Communities, Creating Thriving Downtown Districts and Navigating Zoning to name a few.
