This weekend, the Maryville Fire Department was proud to host the MU Fire and Rescue Training Institute Structural Firefighting Techniques course, bringing together 22 firefighters from more than seven fire departments.

Over 4 classroom hours and 8 hours of hands-on training, firefighters gained valuable experience in structural firefighting.

The most impressive part? Every firefighter attending was a volunteer, giving up their Friday evening and Saturday to better serve their communities. In a world where time is our most valuable resource, that level of commitment speaks volumes.

Thank you to the instructors who shared their knowledge and time, and to every firefighter and department that made this training possible. Your dedication makes our communities safer.

Shoutout to Nodaway County Ambulance District for providing standby to ensure our firefighters stayed safe.

🌦 Remain today. Make sure you have a plan, and multiple ways to recieve weather alerts.

A moderate (Level 4 out of 5) risk exists for parts of the forecast area, with an enhanced (Level 3) and slight (Level 2) risk extending southeastward. Greater confidence exists with storms developing into a line of storms later this evening/overnight. However, a conditional threat exists for the development of discrete storms this afternoon, dependent on how the atmosphere recovers from morning storms. Stay up to date with the forecast, and have multiple ways to receive warnings!

Nothing says “we support the fire department” like six officers immediately scattering the second I try to take a picture of them in front of a fire truck.

I know SRO Myers is probably expecting me to get on here and dog on law enforcement, and honestly, I hate to ruin his day… but this one is a thank you.

For the second time in a week, our law enforcement partners showed up in force and ready to help on what had the potential to turn into a much larger fire incident. Maryville Public Safety ( Maryville R-II School Resource Officers ), Nodaway County Sheriff's Office, and Missouri State Highway Patrol were all on scene, helping however they could and making our job easier.

We give each other a hard time, but when times start getting rough, they show up. Even if they do flee when someone tries to get a picture of them.

Appreciate you all. đźš“
