The Maryville Housing Authority is asking for your help in spreading the word about its Summer Feeding and Reading Program. For many years, MHA served as a summer host site providing meals to school-age children, but funding for that program ended in 2023. This created a serious gap, as many children relied on those meals as their primary nutrition for the day.

In response, its team launched an in-house feeding program—preparing about 500 meals in its first year and growing to more than 800 meals by 2025, with staff serving hot meals daily in our communities. In 2024, it also partnered with Maryville City Schools to add a summer reading program, which produced measurable reading growth for every participant and included gift cards for school clothes.

As food costs continue to rise, community support through donations and sponsorships is essential to sustaining and expanding these programs. We appreciate any help sharing this initiative and encouraging support.

View the flyer below for information on how to donate or sponsor.
