Today marks the Day of Remembrance for the Pequot Massacre at Fort Mystic in 1637.

This is not just history. This is memory carried through generations.

We remember the Pequot lives lost.We honor the ancestors who endured displacement, enslavement, and attempted erasure. And we recognize the strength it took for our people to survive.

Despite every attempt to silence Indigenous identity, the Mashantucket Pequot people are still here, preserving our language, protecting our traditions, and carrying our ancestors forward.
Today is a reminder that remembrance matters.Truth matters.Survival matters.

Protecting Native children starts with collaboration, education, and community.

This week, MPTN Child Protective Services partnered with the Health & Human Services Committee to host the ICWA Collaborative Best Practices Training for the Northeast region.

Thank you to CPS Director Jodi Milardo and trainers Rita Hart and Kelly Tannehill for leading meaningful conversations and helping make this important training a success.

Celebrating Pequot artist Lola Guerrero ✨

This talented middle school performer, daughter of Tribal Member Coco Guerrero, has taken the stage by storm this season; bringing characters like Maui (Moana), the Sour Kangaroo (Seussical), and Donkey (Shrek) to life.

We’re proud to see Lola representing Pequot creativity all the way in California 🎭 clap it up for Lola !

Here’s a peek into a weekend with me ! 👀

3 days packed with so much knowledge, great energy, & incredible leadership. Thank you for a great weekend.

While it’s necessary for me to contribute to the work in Indian Country, it’s even more important to return to Mashantucket promptly to take care of home. My job as a native person; more importantly a native woman, is to leave my community in a better place than I found it and that work happens here.

Looking forward to watering all my office plants 😁 🪴 and happy to be home!
