1.

To provide and support programs that nurture the positive social and academic development of Mashpee Wampanoag youth.
2. To support Mashpee Wampanoag's in their efforts to successfully complete primary and secondary educational programs.
3. To increase the number of Mashpee Wampanoags who enroll, matriculate in, and successfully complete college and graduate school programs.
4. To promote and nurture leadership skills in youth towards the future sustenance of our community.

Summer 2026 Internship Opportunity: MWT Tribal Historic Preservation Assistant

The Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe is offering a 3month paid summer internship through its Tribal Historic Preservation Department (THPD). The MWT THPO Summer Internship provides students and early career professionals with hands on experience in cultural preservation, tribal governance, and regulatory review. Interns will engage in diverse program areas including archaeology, archives, museum operations, GIS mapping, Section 106/NEPA compliance, and NAGPRA. This opportunity is ideal for individuals pursuing careers in Indigenous studies, environmental science, history, planning, or related fields. Interns will work 20–30 hours per week at $22–$26/hour, based in Mashpee, MA with limited remote flexibility. Preference given to Indigenous applicants.

*The opportunity does not offer travel or lodging funding.

JOIN US ON THE EDGE OF LAND & SEA
Spend a season serving with U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service and ACE to help visitors experience two incredible protected areas — the windswept coastlines of Monomoy National Wildlife Refuge and the deep‑sea wonders of the Northeast Canyons and Seamounts Marine National Monument.

WHAT YOU’LL DO
• Welcome and assist the public at the USFWS Visitor Center in Chatham
• Recruit and support volunteers for maintenance, education, and outreach
• Work alongside of Monomoy and other community and Tribal partners
• Help create educational materials and social media content
• Assist with planning community and outreach events

HOUSING PROVIDED
On‑site shared housing is included for the full 42‑week term.
