As we get ready for the parade and other festivities tomorrow, there are two words to keep in mind: “Plan” & “Safety”.

“PLAN”: If you live on or near the parade route, we will close the streets by 7:15 am. This means there will be no access on the route or crossing the route. If you are in this area and need to run errands, please do them today; tomorrow morning will not be an option. Residents living outside the area, keep in mind you may have to find alternative routes to your destination(s). Ex: if you are a resident living in the Asbury area and need to go to Hy-Vee East, using Illinois will not be an option, as a section will be closed off.

Floats- If you are bringing in a float, there is a designated route for you to enter the staging area. Whoever entered the float would have received this information if it were not you. Make sure you are aware of this route, so you do not have the frustration of trying to turn a float around or finding an alternative route.

“SAFETY”- Barricades are put in place so that vehicles do not enter an area where citizens may be sitting or walking prior to the parade starting. These are areas where normally citizens would not be walking, and why extra caution is being taken. PLEASE DO NOT move barricades. We do not want to see anyone get hurt because someone felt the need to move a barricade, because they thought it did not apply to them. It is also against the law.

We hope everyone has a great time watching the STU Neverman Run, parade, carnival rides, & concerts.

Have a great weekend!
