MCPL’s Adult Summer Reading program begins on Tuesday, May 26th and runs through Friday, July 10th. We’re offering interesting adult programming, such as a guided meditation sound bath with Polina Shumanova, a presentation about native plants by Lime Creek Nature Center, and a plant swap where you can trade houseplants or garden plants with other nature lovers!
We’ll have live music every Friday between 11 and 1, with returning favorites and some new faces. As a special treat, on June 5th we’re showing the movie 1776 in the Commons.
The adult prize contests are open to anyone over 18 with a library card. Everyone who reads, listens to, or watches 20 different items checked out from the library, whether a physical copy or checked out from one of our databases like Bridges or Hoopla, will be entered in a drawing to win one of two 9-inch Lenovo tablets. We’re also offering a joint family prize: a parent/guardian with at least one minor child enrolled in the children’s program can enter a drawing to win an insulated picnic basket, a waterproof blanket, yard games, and a gift card from Hy-Vee. There'll be other contests and prizes as well, so come check it out!
