🚧 TRAFFIC PATTERN UPDATE – STARTING MONDAY, JULY 13 🚧
🚗💨 Heads up, drivers! Beginning Monday, July 13, traffic will shift into a head to head pattern in the existing northbound lanes on U.S. 218 between Janesville and Waverly.
📌 Here’s what to expect:
• 🚙➡️ Residents on the east side will have right in/right out access only
• ⛔ 250th Street (west) will be closed permanently
• ⛔ The intersection of Eagle and 250th north will be closed for approximately three weeks
• ✔️ 250th Street (east) will remain open
• 🔓 260th Street will open, allowing access to Eagle and Maple
• ⏱️ Traffic will remain in the northbound lanes for approximately six weeks before shifting into the new southbound lanes
⚠️ Please plan ahead and use caution in the area.

An asphalt resurfacing project will mean lane closures on U.S. 218 in Waterloo starting next week. The details on what drivers can expect are in the news release below.

Sometimes you need a view from above to really appreciate the progress of a project! These drone photos show the new interchange and highway relocation project just north of Janesville.
The first photo looks southeast at the new overpasses and the roundabout at the intersection of the southbound on/off ramps and 260th Street.
The next photo is taken from the opposite side looking north, and the last is from the south end of the project near Janesville, also looking north. In the last picture you can see the new Easton Avenue taking shape on the right side of the images, along with the interchange in the distance.
We’ve included a project diagram for reference as well. The contractor hopes to shift traffic to a head to head pattern in the current northbound lanes by the end of June/early July. They plan to have the new interchange completely open to traffic by mid-December. As always, those dates are weather permitting.

🚧 Heads up, Waterloo drivers! The U.S. 218 → Iowa 58 ramp closes May 4 to improve a bridge deck. Expect a detour through late July.
