Wanda Stokes appointed as Ingham County Circuit Judge.

Judge Wanda Stokes was appointed to the Ingham County Circuit Court in December 2018.

Judge Stokes acknowledges that her predecessor was, indeed, an institution on the Lansing-based court. She knows that she has big footsteps to follow … and she is committed to continuing the legacy that has made the court so strong.

Judge Stokes’ 30-year career spans both the public and private sectors. Before being appointed to the bench, she was Director of the State of Michigan Talent Investment Agency, where she oversaw a staff of more than 800 and managed multi-million-dollar budgets.

A 1986 graduate of the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law, Judge Stokes began her legal journey at Ford Motor Company’s Office of General Counsel. She later took a Staff Attorney position at Auto-Owners Insurance Company, where she eventually became Personnel Director. Over the years, Judge Stokes also practiced law at a from in Southfield, served as a Michigan Assistant Attorney General and was the Deputy Director at the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA). She has also been an Adjunct Professor at WMU-Cooley Law School.
