While standing by for the Syosset Fire Dept on 6/19, The members of Massapequa FD Engine 4 and Ladder 6 trained at the Town of Oyster Bay Sanitation yard on the hazards and protocols for fighting fires that erupt inside garbage trucks. Captain Geldert of Engine 4, went over how to safely operate around a garbage truck and how the garbage can be quickly dumped into a rubbish pile in the street making extinguishment much easier and safer.
The Massapequa members were joined by East Meadow members also on standby coverage.

The upcoming July 4th air show draws large crowds. It also increases the possibility of a potential air emergency. To prepare for this, the members of Massapequa Engine 4 spent the morning training with the Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighters (ARFF) at their facility at Republic Airport. On Monday 5/11 members of Engine 4 and Ladder 6 trained at our training center. Ex-Captain Arnold a retired Garden City Firefighter and instructor at the Nassau County Fire Academy went over operations at private dwelling fires. These fires are the most common fires we fight in Massapequa.
