Public Notice regarding obstruction in Villlage Right-of-Way

Attention Village Residents

🛑Reminder for Village residents!

Parking is prohibited on all streets within the Village between the hours of 2am-6am year-round.

The parking of vehicles is hereby prohibited on all streets within the Village when snow removal is necessary.

A. Snow removal. If snow has been predicted and/or accumulated to a minimum of three inches, then parking of vehicles is prohibited on all streets within the Village. Parking shall be banned until entire street has been plowed, sanded/salted and maintained and precipitation has ended for said storm.

B. Snow removal emergency. The Department of Public Works Superintendent is authorized to declare a snow removal emergency when in his/her judgment, snow is likely to accumulate, or has accumulated, at such depths as will make snow removal difficult if vehicles are left parked on Village streets. Notice of such emergency shall be conveyed to the public via media announcement(s) and will remain in effect until such time as the snow emergency is declared ended via media announcement(s).

C. Penalty. When found to be in violation of this section, vehicles will be removed in accordance with Chapter 280, Vehicles and Traffic, Article VI, Removal and Storage of Vehicles.

A Damage Self Report Tool is currently open to the public. This is an online survey to gather both residential and business damages due to the storm. Using this easy tool will allow us to gather damages quickly and efficiently and help guide what necessary next steps there may be.

EXCITING NEWS!!!!!!!

Today, Governor Kathy Hochul announced that more than $64.1 million has been awarded to 43 projects through the State's Restore New York Communities Initiative. Restore New York supports municipal revitalization efforts with funds to help remove and reduce blight, reinvigorate communities and generate new residential and economic opportunities statewide. The program, administered by Empire State Development, is designed to help local governments encourage new commercial investments through community revitalization, growing local housing, and putting properties back on the tax rolls to increase the local tax base.

The Village of Massena was awarded $2 million to support the restoration of the vacant and blighted 14,000 square-foot Schine Theater on Main Street into a multi-use downtown theater and event center. The plans including flexible seating for movies, concerts and shows, and conference presentations, table seating for cabaret shows and weddings and parties with eating and dancing and potential exhibit and tradeshow space.
