The Massena Housing Authority is currently accepting applications for a full-time Building Maintenance Worker.

This is a union position and includes a weekly on-call rotation. The on-call week is currently paid at $340.00. With four maintenance employees, this position is expected to participate in the on-call rotation approximately once per month.

Rate of Pay:
Newly hired Building Maintenance Workers will start at $23.06 per hour. After 12 months of continuous employment, pay increases to $25.02 per hour. Between 24 and 36 months of employment, wages increase to $27.02 per hour, subject to satisfactory evaluations.

Position Requirements:
Applicants must live within 45 minutes of the Massena Housing Authority and be a resident of St. Lawrence County. Candidates must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license to perform the duties of the position. A pre-employment physical is required.

Work includes, but is not limited to, masonry, carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, painting, outdoor seasonal maintenance including plowing, shoveling, mowing, and raking, as well as preventative maintenance on heating and cooling systems.

Candidates should have knowledge of building and grounds maintenance and repair practices, the ability to follow oral and written instructions, establish and maintain effective working relationships with others, and follow established workplace safety requirements.

Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma is required. A minimum of one year of experience in building construction, maintenance, or repair work in one or more of the standard building trades, such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, masonry, etc., is also required.
