🚧🐾 Remi’s Road Report! 🐾🚧

Woof, woof! I’m here with my first official road update! 🐶

Our crew was out again putting their new dragbox to work on Standish and Hancock, making some much-needed repairs and tackling those pesky potholes!

Now, let me be clear … this isn’t a replacement for paving, but it did help smooth out the road and fix some of the worst potholes. That’s a win in my book! 🐾🙌

📸 A little PSA from your favorite road reporter: My photos aren’t taken during the workday! Our Public Works Director (aka my human 🐶) and his family head out on their own time to snap these fun pictures so I can keep you updated on what’s happening around the township.

Thanks to our road crew for all their hard work! I’ll keep reporting as time allows. And don’t worry, I’m still only charging for head scratches and belly rubs! 💛🐾

🚧 ROAD IMPROVEMENTS IN PERRY TOWNSHIP 🚧

Before and After-Standish & Hancock Intersection

🍂With the beautiful fall weather we've been enjoying, the Perry Township Road Department has been taking advantage of the favorable conditions to get out and make much-needed road improvements.

Our crews recently utilized the DraggTec at the intersection of Standish and Hancock to address deteriorating pavement and help provide a smoother surface.

While this process is not a replacement for complete road resurfacing, it is a cost-effective way to improve road conditions and extend the life of our existing pavement.

🍂As long as the weather cooperates, our crews will continue working to address the problem areas throughout the Township as time and resources allow.

The Perry Township Road Department is pleased to introduce our newest road reporter. Meet Remi!

As Remi makes her way around the township, she’ll keep an eye on road conditions, ongoing work, and areas that may need attention. She’ll share her reports as time allows to help keep residents informed!

Her reports may come with a little more tail-wagging than your typical road update, but the goal is the same: keeping Perry Township residents informed about their roads.

🐶 Don’t worry!! Remi only charges head scratches and belly rubs!

Understanding Your Tax Dollars:
Perry Township Road Renewal Levy Informational Meeting this Thursday at 6pm in the Police Community Room.

🏛️📊The Township is hosting an informational session to walk through the details of the Perry Road 1986 Renewal Levy and answer resident questions.

For example, please see details on how local property taxes are distributed across Stark County and township services below.

Perry Local Schools: 55.4% 🎒
Stark County: 15.1% 🏛️
Perry Township Police: 12.5% 🚓
Perry Township Fire: 9.8% 🚒
Perry Township Roads: 3.6% 🛣️
Stark County District Library: 2.5% 📚
Stark County Parks: 0.9% 🌳
Perry Township General Fund: 0.2% 📑

This is a renewal levy, meaning it continues existing funding for township road maintenance, resurfacing, and safety operations based on 1986 funding valuation rates.

Under Ohio law, road levy funds are restricted and can only be used for the township road department's operations, equipment, paving, and maintenance. 🚜

Township officials and department representatives will be present to review road budget allocations and answer questions from residents.

Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to share areas of concern throughout the Township. We have read your comments and appreciate everyone who has taken the time to let us know about areas of concern. Our crew will make every effort to address these locations as time, staffing, and weather conditions allow.

The Dragg Box process can be time-consuming, but we will continue working our way throughout the Township to improve as many areas as possible. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

🚧 The Perry Township Road Department is putting our new Dragg Box to work!🚧

The Dragg Box is designed to help smooth and repair rough areas and potholes in the roadway, giving our crew another tool to help improve road conditions throughout the Township.

Our new Public Works Director requested this equipment on the September 8th Board of Trustees meeting. The purchase was approved by the Board, ordered, and is being put to use for the first time on Township roads today.

As you can see from the photos, this process takes most of our small road crew working together to operate equipment, place the material, and complete the repair. While we know there are many, many areas throughout the Township needing attention, our crew is working hard to address what we can with the manpower and resources available to us while staying within our limited budget.

This equipment is NOT intended for paving entire streets or allotments. It is being used specifically to address problem areas and help improve road conditions where we can.

We're excited to put this equipment to work and continue doing everything we can to improve Perry Township roads-one repair at a time.

Our Perry Township Road Department crew recently removed this severely deteriorated drainage pipe during a replacement project. As you can see, years underground can take quite a toll!
