Matagorda Fire & Rescue Matagorda VFD operates fire stations in Matagorda and Selkirk. The MVFD service area is 230 square miles including 40 miles of Matagorda Beach.

Always something to do ! Long Morning! Today fire drill at STP with their fire brigade and many Matagorda County VFD first responders. Always learning and need to be ready to assist if needed. Thank you to STP Nuclear Operating Company. Also had great food from Coastal Que BBQ and More.

MVFD was dispatched to trailer fire. Thank you to all our members who worked do hard in this heat to contain the fire from spreading to grass and surrounding homes. Thank you to Wadsworth and Bay City Volunteer Fire Dept. for coming out with mutual aid man power and water and Allegiance Mobile Health Bay City for standing by and treating fire fighters for heat exhaustion.

A burn ban is now in effect for all areas south of FM 521 until further notice.

• No outdoor burning of brush, trash, or debris.
• Use extra caution with anything that could spark a fire.
