Matamoras Residents Against Central Sewage will support Cristin Cavallaro for Magisterial District Judge. I signed her petition today and look forward to casting my vote in May. Her integrity and good character will serve Pike County with distinction.

It is without a doubt her track record far outweighs other candidates in this election.

It has been some time since I have been on here. The central sewage ACT 537 has been on hold due to the DEP's rejections. However behind the scenes certain members of the Matamoras Borough Council continue to push this agenda. The main proponents of this are Commissioner Clark and Commissioner Kudrich. As for the new council members they have been quiet on the subject because they know how they were able to get elected under the watchful eye of the public during the last election. This proposal continues to be kept away from the public eye while little to no information is sent to the residents to make informed decisions. While I have been keeping a close eye on this, the revisions are being submitted to the state for re-approval. Once this is approved they are going vote to write an ordinance that states you will have to hook up to it. The costs are astronomical. Please read this so you are informed on what you'll be paying.

There have been lies and deceptions concerning this project all to keep the public from getting too worked up about it. I urge you to once again pay attention to what is happening in our town. Clark and Kudrich need to be voted off this council as soon as they are up again for re-election. As you can see Mark Madsen was voted off the council and is still involved in the planning commission. I am disappointed the new members of the council have not made their opinions public or rejected this. We will find out where they stand when it comes time to vote on an ordinance.

Matamoras residents you have been deceived. Most of what you were told in the 2020 meeting is now back in fold. The Matamoras Council apparently feels like the information you should receive should only be found at the bottom of their web page. I had trouble finding it myself. The multi million dollar central sewage plan is still being pushed by members and previous members of the council. The new members have been quiet about it. This is most likely due to the drastic change in council members in the last election. Yet somehow one of these members who was voted off is still pushing the agenda. This plan has nothing to do with the environment it has to do with money. The items in this link will provide you with some education on what they are planning to do without your say.

You should note several parts of this that you were deceived about in the original meeting in 2020 that the council passed. Since then 5 members of this council are no longer seated.
It is stated in the planning minutes that 52% of septic systems in the borough had failed. That is a total lie. I read the ACT 537 myself only 8% had failed.
The "worst case" estimate would cost a resident $20,000 total to hook up to this system
They originally stated that the monthly cost would be $72 a month now they are saying $82 a month ($984) a year.
Lines would need to be run, electric would need to be installed, your old system would have to be filled in , and grinder pumps would need to be purchased and maintained.
Grants may or may not be available to seniors
We were told an ordinance would need to be written to be "loosely enforced" like baseball in the street. Trying to compare the 2 is basically calling the residents imbeciles.
It is being said that a grant has been passed by Democratic Congressman Matt Cartwright but has not passed the Senate. So the grants are not guaranteed.
Milford has pulled the plug on CS for residents and will only be supplying it to commercial.
What's not being said is that central sewage in Matamoras will benefit some council members commercially and that is why it is being pushed so hard.
You need to educate yourself on what is going on behind closed doors. While we made progress in the last election more needs to be done to prevent these astronomical costs to be shoved down our throats. Please see the names that are pushing this and vote them out. Let the biggest Red Wave come rolling into the next election and voice your opinion on all issues that effect Matamoras Residents.
Be well! WC

As you can see who is pushing this hard. Just remember to fill in those dots when they come up for election!

Apparently the Council did not get the message at the last election. I'm not sure where the new Council members stand but we need to know. I will continue to update the group on anything placed in the minutes.

Good morning residents. It has been some time since I posted here. Rest assured I have been paying attention to what is happening in the minutes of the Matamoras Borough monthly meetings. Apparently the Council is still pursuing central sewage. In the March meeting minutes it is stated that the Council is revising the ACT 537 deficiencies that the state rejected. It is obvious that they did not get the message in the last election. All incumbent Council members were voted off with the president receiving the lowest amount of votes. It is my feeling that some of these Council members would still be there if they had just listened to the people of Matamoras. I do not believe that the newly elected members have enough power to override what has been done. There are still a lot of questions to be answered on this subject and with specific Council members pushing their own agendas it is important to stay updated. Please know who else sits on this Council that pushed this unnecessary project through. As each one of these members seats come up they must also be voted off. I will continue to update this page as more information comes in.

Good morning Matamoras Residents, Its been sometime since there has been some information on the central sewage issue. I can tell you there are some things going on out of the public eye. As many of you know the DEP did not approve the ACT 537 plan. This has put the project on hold. During this time Matamoras residents clearly spoke at the last election. All incumbent council members were voted out. Clearly this was in response to the lack of communication and disgust by the residents that council members were not listening to the will of the people. In reading the minutes from the December meeting the Matamoras Council continues to pursue revisions to the ACT 537 to resubmit to the DEP. I encourage each resident to read these minutes to stay informed on "who" is still pushing their own agenda. It is my belief that the new council members are already being pushed into the corner on this issue. We the people need to continue to stay updated and make sure continued positive change occurs at future elections. We have done a great job so far but the battle continues.
