The Matamoras Fire Department is saddened to announce the passing of Past Chief and Life Member Ora “Red” Hall.

Red proudly served as Chief of the Matamoras Fire Department and dedicated many years of service to our department, our community, and Pike County. His commitment and service will always be remembered and appreciated.

We ask that everyone keep Red’s family, friends, and fellow firefighters in their thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Thank you, Red, for everything you have done for the Matamoras Fire Department and the borough of Matamoras. Your service and dedication will never be forgotten.

Rest in peace, Past Chief Ora “Red” Hall.

The Matamoras Fire Department would like to give a huge THANK YOU to everyone who supported our Meat Raffle!

ALL TICKETS HAVE OFFICIALLY SOLD OUT BEFORE THE DRAWING DATE!

Because we sold out early, we will be moving the drawing date up! Please keep checking our page for the new drawing date and time.

Busy morning for the St. 32 crew, and neighboring departments, as crews were alerted at 00:53 hr to a 2 alarm structure fire in Sparrowbush NY.
32 Eng. 1 was requested to the scene, and upon arrival, assisted in exterior fire suppression, as the structure had become too unstable to make any interior push.
While on scene in Sparrowbush, we were alerted to a Police Assist call at 03:13 hr.
32 operated at the fire until approximately 03:30 hr and were alerted for a non emergent response back to the scene at 05:57 hr with our Tower, to aid in wetting down the remains of the building. Sparrowbush command reassigned the tower to stand by in quarters to provide additional protection to the area as other units were still in operation at the scene.

Great job by all departments involved. Although we all wish the outcome could have been better, all departments worked hand in hand to extinguish the fire and to watch over each other in less than ideal fire conditions.

Please note that due to motor vehicle accident on Pennsylvania Avenue early this morning, there is going to be an extended loss of power while repairs are made to the power grid. This outage will affect parts of Matamoras, Westfall, and Milford.

Avoid Pennsylvania Avenue between eighth and sixth Street to allow crews the space and time needed to make necessary repairs.

Our Thursday night drill tonight included pump operations, drafting, and hand line drills at West End Beach.
Then on the way back to the station, we did a simulated fire attack. 32 Eng. 1 hit the hydrant, laid 2 lengths of LDH and deployed our front bumper “trash line”. This gave the younger guys the opportunity to make the connections, run the line, and flow water.
It was a warm night, but it ended with everyone having a better understanding of their job, expectations, and goals during an actual fire. GREAT JOB GANG!!

Happy birthday to another one of our junior members who is now 18 and joining the ranks of Firefighter! Chris has been a dedicated junior member and we all look forward to watching him progress as a full fledged member of our dept!!
