For tonight’s drill, members of the dive team as well as other members of the department reviewed dive protocols, equipment, radio procedures etc. in the event of a water operations incident. Once we were done with that, several boat operators and members took the boat to both West End Beach and #2 Beach and worked on backing the trailer into the boat launches. We got so caught up in practicing that we didn’t take any pictures until we were all done.

The officers and members of the Matamoras Fire Department would like to congratulate Junior Firefighter Chase Sotelo on completing his State and National Firefighter One Certification. Chase successfully completed the vocational fire science program curriculum and did so well he was inducted into the National Technical Honor Society for his outstanding performance.

The Boston Fire Department announces the line of duty death of firefighter Robert Kilduff who tragically passed away earlier today while operating at the scene of a 3rd alarm structure fire. Firefighter Kilduff fell from the 3rd floor of the structure and was pronounced deceased at an area hospital.

Last night and today, 5 of our Junior members attended the Steven Boo Junior Firefighter weekend at the Pike County Fire Training Center. Our members in addition to Junior members from many local departments participated in a variety of firefighting activities, all learning to become better at their craft.
If you are 14-18 years old, or are any age above 14, and you have an interest in learning more about this weekend or how you could help your community by volunteering, message us here or stop by our firehouse any Thursday. We’d love to meet you and talk to you about how many ways there are to help. Stop by and say hi!!!
