Today, we honor Juneteenth, a day that commemorates freedom, resilience, and the enduring pursuit of equality.
Juneteenth marks June 19, 1865, when the last enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas learned they were free, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed. It is a day to reflect on our nationβs history, celebrate progress, and recognize the importance of unity, inclusion, and service to our communities.
At Matawan-Aberdeen First Aid Squad, we are proud to serve all members of our community with compassion, dignity, and respect. As we commemorate Juneteenth, we honor those who fought for freedom and those who continue working toward a brighter future for all.
Happy Juneteenth from all of us at Matawan-Aberdeen First Aid Squad.
