Today, Matawan-Aberdeen First Aid Squad joins communities around the world in remembering those whose lives have been lost to overdose, supporting the families and friends who carry their memory, and standing with those who are working toward recovery.

Overdose can affect anyone, regardless of age, background, or circumstance. Behind every statistic is a person, a family, a friend, and a story.

Awareness saves lives. Education saves lives. Naloxone saves lives. And compassion can make a difference.

Today and every day, remember those we’ve lost, support those still fighting, and help end the stigma surrounding addiction and overdose. 💜

If you suspect an overdose, call 911 immediately. You could help save a life.

🚨 BLUE & WHITE LIGHTS MEAN SOMEONE NEEDS HELP 🚨

You may see a regular-looking vehicle with blue and white strobe lights flashing in the windshield. While it may not look like an ambulance or police car, it could be a first responder heading to an emergency.

When you see flashing blue and white lights approaching:
🚙 Safely pull to the right and stop
👀 Stay alert and give them room to pass
🚑 Remember, every second can matter in an emergency

That responder could be heading to someone experiencing a medical emergency, a serious crash, or another call where help is urgently needed.

Give them room. They’re on their way to help. 💙🤍

Although… we can see how the big smile, red hat, and ridiculously good-looking mascot might cause some confusion. 👀
