A very special birthday was celebrated at Atrium Post Acute Care of Matawan recently. Sylvia Gore, who has been a resident of Atrium for several years, turned 100 years young.

Her family, including her son Elliot (who travelled up from Florida), joined the party that was also attended by Matawan Mayor Joe Altomonte, Councilwoman Josi Salvatore, and Councilman David Bergaretti.

The celebration started with Mayor Altomonte reading a special proclamation written to honor Sylvia's special milestone which was of course followed by singing Happy Birthday, eating cake and dancing.

A special thank you to the Mayor and members of the Council for taking the time to celebrate with us. We are proud of all of the milestones reached by our residents, but especially honored to be a part of Sylvia's special day.

On Friday, February 23rd , Atrium Post Acute Care of Matawan celebrated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony as we opened our new General Store. What started as a concept in the mind of our Administrator, Heather Stockman, became a dream of the resident council as she presented them with the idea. This dream then became a reality through the support and hard work of our team members, residents and patients.

The President of the Resident Council, Patrice, volunteered to run the store and cut the ribbon at the ceremony. Patrice’s son Jay was unable to attend the ribbon-cutting ceremony, but sent a message of congratulations saying," That’s a really cool idea and I thank you for implementing it. It will give some a purpose, and help others who aren’t able to make trips to the store.” Peter, another resident, who is active as a resident advocate, will also help to run the store.

Everything from toiletries to socks, greeting cards, stuffed animals, snacks, and decorations for upcoming holidays are now available at the General Store!
