It was a busy Saturday morning in Matawan!
The day kicked off with the 4th Annual Main Street Donuts Shark 5K, where more than 700 runners lined up at the starting line and took off at 8:30 a.m. Under beautiful skies, participants enjoyed a great run and were rewarded at the finish line with a Shark 5K medal and, of course, a Main Street Donut. A special thank you to the Matawan Police Department and the Department of Public Works for their assistance throughout the event. Their efforts to safely close and reopen roads as runners moved through the course helped make the race a success.
Later in the morning, the Matawan Fresh Farmers & Makers Market opened for the season at 201 Broad Street. Opening day drew a great crowd eager to explore local crafters, fresh produce, a brewery, a winery, and more. The market will be open on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays from June through September, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Meanwhile, Lake Lefferts was buzzing with activity as residents and visitors took advantage of canoe and kayak rentals, enjoying the peaceful waters, scenic views, and beautiful weather. The Kayak and Canoe rentals are available on Saturdays and Sundays from 10 am - 5 pm at an hourly rate of $15 per person.
What a great day to be in Matawan!
