Monmouth County Energy Assistance Day
Wednesday, March 4
4 PM to 7 PM at the Salvation Army, 605 Asbury Avenue, Asbury Park, NJ.

It's an opportunity to learn how you could possibly receive some assistance in paying your energy bills!

Representatives from JCP&L and these other organizations will be on hand to:
• Determine which energy assistance programs are best for the customer
• Assist the customer with the application process
• Answer customer questions about their bill

To apply for assistance, customers will need to bring Social Security cards and proof of income for all household members, their deed or rental lease and a recent electric bill.

For more information about bill assistance programs or to find out if New Jersey residents may qualify, visit www.firstenergycorp.com/billassist and click on “Search Assistance Programs.”JCP&L will be collaborating with other utilities and community based organizations to provide assistance in paying energy bills.

Saturday was a great day of celebration for one of Matawan's historic landmarks - the Burrowes Mansion Museum. Mayor Altomonte, Matawan Council Members and Matawan Historical Society Members with Special Guest, Monmouth County Freeholder Lillian Burry, officially re-opened the mansion after the completion of the 1 1/2 year restoration project made possible by a grant application submitted by the Borough to the State Historic Preservation Trust. A ribbon cutting ceremony organized by the Matawan-Aberdeen Chamber of Commerce was held on the steps of the nearly 300 year old home. All were then invited to attend the awards ceremony and reception hosted by the Matawan Historical Society in honor of their 50th Anniversary.

During The Party Outlet Grand Opening event held yesterday, 1/25, Mayor Altomonte welcomed the owners to Matawan along with several Matawan council members while extending good wishes and much success to them. A ribbon-cutting ceremony organized by the Matawan-Aberdeen Chamber of Commerce marked the special occasion followed by everyone offering their congratulations!

The water main work will continue on Broad Street this week at the intersection of Broad and Church The project is expected to take another 2-4 weeks before it ends at/near Park Ave. Please be aware of detours along 34, Broad, Main, Church, and South Atlantic. The main entrance to the Matawan Municipal Center/Community Center will remain accessible throughout the project. Your patience is greatly appreciated.

The new year began in Matawan with the annual reorganization meeting of the council. Mayor Joe Altomonte and Councilman Brett Cannon were sworn in for their second terms of office while new council members John Lazar and Brian Livesey were sworn in to begin their first terms. There were several appointments made during the meeting including the council president, professional staff, and the borough's new fire chief and deputy fire chiefs. The mayor presented his first report of 2020 with a review of the past year's achievements, goals for this year, and well wishes for a happy, healthy and prosperous new year to all. We hope to start each night by 5:45-6pm and be done by 9:30-10pm at the latest. Please try and be understanding if our times a little off but we hope to keep everyone posted each night as we go!
