With cleanup efforts following the Dove Fire underway, California Governor's Office of Emergency Services Debris and Watershed Operations answered questions about disaster cleanup and provided general erosion control guidance during a visit last Tuesday to Tuolumne County. Team members, state and local partners toured the burn scar led by Tuolumne County Office of Emergency Services.

Through the California Fire and Rescue Mutual Aid System, Cal OES has coordinated the out-of-state response of more than 200 local fire agencies. Deploying a combined 2,921 firefighters and 172 fire engines and specialized equipment.

Thank you to the firefighters, emergency managers, and support personnel who have answered the call to support our neighbors across the nation and the globe.

When disaster strikes, our shared duty to one another shines through.

Since June, California has proudly deployed 3,372 personnel and 258 pieces of equipment to support wildfire, flood, and earthquake response in 12 states and two countries.

Community involvement is critical during times of need. The California Governor's Office of Emergency Services Director Caroline Thomas Jacobs emphasized the importance of neighbor helping neighbor during the 2026 Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) National Conference today in Orange County. CERT is made up of neighborhood volunteers trained in the vital skills and methods for fire suppression, search and rescue, and disaster first aid.
