HIGH-RISK SEARCH WARRANT LEADS TO ARRESTS:
On May 29, 2026, the Mathews County Sheriff’s Office executed a high-risk search warrant in the 200 block of Hudgins Lane in the Susan area of Mathews County following a lengthy investigation with agents from the Tri-Rivers Drug Task Force. The operation was conducted with assistance from the Virginia State Police Tactical Unit.
During the search of the residence, investigators located fi****ms, ammunition, and narcotics. As a result, the following individuals were arrested and charged:
Cassie Leigh Verlander, 43, of Susan, Virginia
Possession or transportation of fi****ms and firearm ammunition by a prohibited person (§ 18.2-308.2)
Possession of fi****ms while in possession of certain controlled substances (§ 18.2-308.4)
Removing, altering, or obliterating a firearm serial number or identification (§ 18.2-311.1)
Possession of controlled substances (§ 18.2-250).
Fred Miles Floyd, 30, of Susan, Virginia
Possession or transportation of fi****ms and firearm ammunition by a prohibited person (§ 18.2-308.2)
Possession of controlled substances (§ 18.2-250).
Eric Christopher McCurry, 41, of Susan, Virginia
Possession of controlled substances (§ 18.2-250)
Possession or transportation of fi****ms and firearm ammunition by a prohibited person (§ 18.2-308.2)
All three individuals were transported to the Middle Peninsula Regional Security Center, where they were all being held without bond.
All individuals charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
