Next month, the library will host Robert Ainsworth for a historic conversation about Fraud though the Ages!
People have always wanted to get rich quick-- seagoing merchants in the Mediterranean, Charles Ponzi in the 1920s, from Bernie Madoff in the 1990s, and even bitcoin on the internet. These famous fraudsters wanted easy money, and would stop at nothing to get it…
Robert Ainsworth, experienced fraud examiner and author of the Harry Bartlett mystery series, will tell the story of history’s swindlers, from Ancient Greece to today.
Visit Robert's website to learn more about him & his work: https://www.rainsworthjr.com/

As a library director, there are certain events that stay with you long after they’re over. I have a feeling this will be one of them.

This Saturday at 2:00 PM, we’ll be honoring the life and work of Jill Viles, author of Manufacturing My Miracle, with a special panel discussion featuring her husband, Jeremy, as well as Jill’s mother and sister.

Jill’s story touched people across the country and was featured by This American Life and ProPublica. Now, we’re honored to help share her story with our community.

If you enjoy books, inspiring true stories, or simply hearing about remarkable lives, I hope you’ll join us.

Mark your calendars!
Acclaimed author, Eric Jay Dolin, will visit the library on July 1st at 5:30pm. Eric will discuss his 2022 publication "Rebels at Sea: Privateering in the American Revolution", and hold a Q&A with attendees. “Rebels at Sea” takes on the heroic story of the founding of the U.S. Navy during the Revolution that has been told many times – yet often missing from maritime histories of the period is the ragtag fleet of private vessels that were, in fact, critical to American victory.
Eric Jay Dolin has written more than 17 books, some of which are available through the SAILS library catalog. Use the online catalog or call the library directly to place a hold on Dolin's works!
This program is supported by a grant from the Mattapoisett Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency.
