The 159th Martha’s Vineyard Agricultural Society’s Fair is being held in honor of Emma Hall. Our theme this year is “A Fair Together: Celebrating Family and Friends.” In December, Emma was tragically killed in a motor vehicle accident. The Ag Fair was a family event for the ladies of the Hall family. Emma, her mother, Helen, and her sisters Charlotte and Sarah were instrumental with the organization and success of the Fair for many, many years. They were department heads, judges, entry clerk assistants, fair artists, livestock judge assistants, exhibitors, and beloved members of the Fair Lady team. The tradition began with Helen and her eldest daughter, Sarah, and was then passed down to Charlotte and Emma in turn. In Emma’s ten years with the Fair, the Ag Hall rang out with her late-night giggles, sarcastic wit, mischievous pranks, and dedication to the job at hand. She was an integral part of the Fair family. The Board of Trustees will dedicate this year’s Fair in honor of Emma. Charlotte, an incredibly talented artist, asked to design this year’s poster in honor of her sister, Emma, and the time they spent as a family at the Fair. The Board of Trustees supported this request and unanimously voted in favor of her poster. We are honored to present this year’s poster in loving memory of Emma Hall.

Hay farmers beware-
A local farmer witnessed some gentlemen in a pickup truck trying to steal a large round bale of hay from a nearby field late last night. It took several men to get this bale into their truck but it rolled out when they tried to drive away quickly after being caught. If you have fields close to roads, you may want to pickup your bales right away. Spread the word! And if anyone sees any suspicious behavior please notify local police. Thank you!
