It is with the heaviest of hearts that we share the passing of our friend, our hero, and one of the voices we proudly served from behind the radio—Park Forest Detective Tim Jones.
In March of 2016, our world shifted when Tim was critically wounded in the line of duty. We remember that day vividly. We heard his bravery over the air, and we felt every moment that followed. Tim was shot multiple times while courageously taking an armed offender into custody. We were told he might not survive, but anyone who knew Tim knew he had a different kind of fight in him. And he proved it every single day.
For nearly 10 years, Tim showed us what true resilience looks like. From our side of the radio, we watched his journey—his strength, his progress, his setbacks, and his incredible will to overcome. He inspired us then, and he inspires us now.
Yesterday, Tim’s long and courageous battle came to an end. Our hearts are broken, but we remain profoundly proud of the fight he gave. His life, his courage, and his spirit will forever echo in our center, reminding us of the power of determination, faith, and the unwavering support of family, loved ones, and a community that never stopped believing in him.
To the community: thank you for the years of support—from every blue porch light to every message. We saw it. We felt it. And it meant everything.
