I’m so heartbroken to learn about the passing of our community icon, Spencer Leak Jr. He was a visionary leader and advocate for the less fortunate, but also a proud Chicagoan who always put people first. The arms of the Leak family extend to every facet of Cook County and beyond.

Surely Spencer carried the family torch of love and compassion in a spirit of excellence and truth. On behalf of the residents of the 38th Legislative District of Illinois, I extend my condolences to his entire family and the staff of the Leak Funeral Home.

Being a mother is one of life’s greatest blessings. Today, I’m especially grateful for the love, laughter, and lessons shared with my daughters. Motherhood has strengthened my faith, deepened my purpose, and reminded me daily of the importance of leading with love. To every mother across the 38th District, thank you for all that you do, often without recognition. Your strength holds families and communities together.

It was a great evening with Richton Park Mayor, Rick Reinbold and the Village Trustees as they honored their Village Commissioners for their volunteer service. It’s always a pleasure to recognize the community engagement of our residents.
