Join us on June 25 from 6:30 PM – 8:30 PM at the Matteson Area Public Library District for “It’s More Than Your Body – It’s Also Your Mind.” Hosted by The Village of Matteson & Rich Township Mental Health and Wellness Committee, this event features a dynamic panel discussion, light refreshments, and a friendly door‑prize competition.

Let’s come together to support men’s mental and physical wellness in our community.

What an incredible morning in Historic Downtown Matteson! Mayor Sheila Chalmers-Currin, along with village trustees, elected officials, and village staff, gathered as we officially celebrated the grand opening of the Welcome Corner, a beautiful new enhancement designed to energize our downtown district and create a more inviting gateway for residents and visitors.

The ribbon was cut and the vision for a revitalized downtown came to life. This milestone represents ongoing collaboration, strategic investment, and a shared commitment to creating an inviting, vibrant downtown district.

A huge thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate this milestone with us. Your enthusiasm and support continue to fuel the positive momentum happening throughout our community.

On Wednesday, June 10 at 7 a.m., let’s cheer on the Matteson Police Department as they help kick off the Special Olympics season with the Law Enforcement Torch Run.

This run is an annual intrastate relay involving officers from every branch of law enforcement across Illinois, along with our federal partners. Each year, approximately 3,000 officers carry the Flame of Hope nearly 1,500 miles through thousands of Illinois communities across 23 different legs, all leading to the Opening Ceremony of the Special Olympics Illinois Summer Games in Normal.

The Matteson leg starts at the Matteson Police Department and goes to Governors Highway at 216th Street. Donations are always welcome and help support Special Olympics athletes throughout the year.
