Members of the MWCSL were pleased to provide the food at a tea party presented by the Matthews Playhouse in celebration of their performance of "The Velveteen Rabbit" in April.

The MWCSL presented several community organizations with grants from the proceeds of our fundraising. This year's recipients were Blessed Assurance Adult Daycare, Common Heart Food Pantry, The Matthews Free Medical Clinic, COS Kids, The Matthews Help Center, Habitat for Humanity Critical Home Repair, and Bright Blessings. We also gave monetary gifts to the Matthews Police and Fire Departments this year. Also in attendance at the Giving Back meeting were Mayor John Higdon, Mayor Pro-tem Susan Chambers, and Town Commissioner Brian Hacker.

It has been a true privilege to serve as the President of the MWCSL for the past four years. I was overwhelmed with the delicious cake, beautiful flowers and touching sentiments expressed at our May meeting. I am excited about the incoming new leadership and the future of the club. — Becky Willard

A sampling of our recent projects: We made special bead tokens for clients of the Matthews Help Center, children's birthday bags for Bright Blessings, and have begun to ready the Reid House for our Holiday Teas. Special Thanks to the American Legion Baseball Team Seniors (Post 235 Hooks-Orr)with Margaret Draganac for assisting with the move-in to the Reid House! A big thanks also to our Outreach Chair.
