As part of America's upcoming 250th anniversary, the Matthews Heritage Museum and Matthews Library have launched the Matthews Stories Project to collect memories, experiences, family stories, and reflections that help tell the story of our community.

Whether you've lived in the Town of Matthews, NC your whole life, attended school here, owned a business, volunteered, served your community, or simply have a special memory to share, we'd love to hear from you!

Our goal is simple: help preserve the stories that make Matthews unique and ensure they are available for future generations.

Today, on Memorial Day, we pause in remembrance of the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. We honor their courage, reflect on their legacy, and give thanks for the freedoms secured through their selfless devotion. Their service and sacrifice will never be forgotten.

We're so happy to welcome back 2nd graders from Matthews Elementary School for their annual field trip to the museum! 🏫

Each year, these special visits give students the chance to step back in time, explore local history, and discover the stories that helped shape Town of Matthews, NC.

Today is and we're celebrating with one of Matthews' newest connections to its past: the Matthews Depot marker, installed just last year. This historic transportation marker was fully funded by a grant received from the William G. Pomeroy Foundation.

Markers like this help tell the story of our town's beginnings, connecting the Town of Matthews, NC to a wider world and laying the foundation for the community we know today. We've also received approval for another historical marker, so stay tuned for what's next.
