Today, Veterans Beach had the honor of welcoming riders from the Tour de Force 9/11 Memorial Bike Ride as they made a stop in Mattituck during their four-day journey.

Tour de Force was founded in 2002 by retired NYPD Detective Robert De Paolis, who set out by bicycle to honor the law enforcement officers who lost their lives in the September 11 attacks. What began with a small group of riders has grown into an annual 280-mile ride bringing together hundreds of law enforcement officers, family members and supporters from across the country and beyond.

The ride remembers the victims of September 11 and raises funds to support the families of law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty.

This year’s ride, September 10–13, travels from New York City to Boston and carries special significance as we mark 25 years since September 11, 2001.

The Mattituck Park District was proud to welcome the Tour de Force riders to Veterans Beach today and to provide a small stop along a much larger journey of remembrance, service and support.

We will never forget.

What a night at Veterans Beach! 🎥🍿

Popcorn, ice cream, glow sticks, a beautiful night by the water — and a whole lot of very happy kids. Thank you to everyone who came out for our Zootopia 2 Family Movie Night and helped make it such a fun end-of-summer evening.

A big thank-you to Magic Fountain 🍦for the Flying Saucers, and to Frank and Movies in the Moonlight for another terrific setup with a perfect screen and sound.

And a very special thank-you to Commissioner Denise G. ✨for putting together such a fantastic night for our community.

We’re also incredibly grateful to all of the local businesses and organizations whose sponsorship helped make the evening possible:
