🔥 A Huge Thank You from the Mattydale Fire Department! 🔥

The Mattydale Fire Department would like to extend a sincere thank you to Kiesz's crafts and handyman shop for the incredible work put into creating our custom co****le boards!

From the very beginning, the entire process was informative, professional, and collaborative. We were kept involved every step of the way, with photos and updates provided throughout the build. Any questions we had were answered, and he worked closely with us to make sure the finished boards were the best they could be.

These boards are handmade and hand-painted, making the craftsmanship behind them even more impressive. This project also presented a new challenge—he had never worked with pre-made decals before. Rather than shy away from something unfamiliar, he was willing to give it a try and worked with us to bring our vision together. We think the finished product speaks for itself!

It’s always great to work with someone who takes pride in his craft, communicates throughout the process, and is willing to try something new for a customer.

We’d also like to give a special shout-out to Paramedic Ed Binnis with WAVES Ambulance for his assistance with the photos. Thank you for helping us showcase the finished product!

🚨 Motor Vehicle Accident – Beley Avenue 🚨

At approximately 10:49 PM, the Mattydale Fire Department was dispatched to the 200 block of Beley Avenue for a reported motor vehicle accident involving a vehicle that had rolled onto its roof.

Mattydale Car 2 (Assistant Chief Dwyer) and Mattydale Car 3 (Assistant Chief Klink) responded to the incident.

The Hinsdale Volunteer Fire Department and Lyncourt Volunteer Fire Department also responded as mutual aid.

Mattydale Car 2 arrived to find a single vehicle rollover and one additional vehicle involved in the crash. The occupant of the overturned vehicle was able to self-extricate and was transported by North Area Volunteer Ambulance Corps for further evaluation.

• Lyncourt Engine 1
• NAVAC Ambulance
• Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office

We extend our sincere appreciation to our mutual aid partners from Hinsdale and Lyncourt for their assistance and continued partnership. Incidents like this are another example of the strong cooperation between our neighboring fire departments and public safety agencies.

Thank you to everyone who responded and worked together to bring the incident to a safe conclusion.

~Motor Vehicle Collision~

This afternoon around 4:30pm Mattydale Fire with Hinsdale Volunteer Fire Department and Lyncourt Volunteer Fire Department were dispatched to Lemoyne Trailer Park for a vehicle into structure. Mattydale car 1, 2, Squad 4, 6 responded with Hinsdale car 1, rescue 5. Lyncourt engine 1 all responded to the alarm.

Mattydale units arrived first to find a vehicle had backed into the trailer knocking the trailer off the foundation as well as damage to the gas meter connected to the trailer. National grid outside gas and electric were requested to the scene along with Town of Salina Codes. Units operated on scene for just about an hour prior to turning the scene over.

One individual was transported to a local area hospital. The condition of the patient is not known to the Mattydale Fire Department. The Mattydale Fire Department would like to all of our mutual aid partners for the quick response along with NAVAC ambulance and New York State Police.

~Mutual Aid Structure Fire~

This evening just after 6:00pm the Hinsdale Volunteer Fire Department with respective mutual aid companies including Mattydale truck-3 were dispatched to the location for a possible structure fire. Initial 911 caller reported smoke in the basement of the residence. Due to the fire station staff, Mattydale car 1, 3 and truck 3 responded and arrived within minutes of dispatch.

Mattydale car 1 arrived as the first chief nothing evident from multiple sides and established command. Car 3 and truck 3 arrived shortly after. Mattydale truck-3 secured a water supply from a near by hydrant and deployed a single 1 3/4 handline to the basement of the residence. Inside units were met with a minor haze but no active and obvious signs of fire. Hinsdale engine also arrived, securing a second water supply, and the two companies worked together to investigate the cause of the smoke. The remainder of the box alarm was staged nearby in case of any needs.

Crews were able to located a burned power strip in the basement to be the cause of the smoke, crews confirmed the fire was out and no damage to the residence. The call was reduced to the Hinsdale units on scene and Mattydale chiefs and truck 3 and Once able all units returned to service. The call was closed just over an hour after initial dispatch.

Mattydale fire with automatic mutual aid from Hinsdale Volunteer Fire Department and Lyncourt Volunteer Fire Department are currently arriving on a motor vehicle collision involving a structure.

~MUTUAL AID FIRE~

This morning at approximately 2:17 a.m., Mattydale Squad 4 was dispatched to the North Syracuse Fire Department response area as the Rapid Intervention Team (RIT) for a reported possible structure fire.

Upon arrival, responding companies encountered an active smoke condition in the basement. After further investigation, crews located a minor electrical fire, which was quickly extinguished.

Mattydale Squad 4 handled the RIT assignment and operated on scene for approximately 30 minutes before returning to service.

Strong work by all responding companies.

Media Release — Basement Fire on Hazelhurst Avenue

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

This morning, at approximately 2:17 a.m., the North Syracuse Fire Department was dispatched to the 100 block of Hazelhurst Avenue for a reported basement fire.

Upon arrival, firefighters found a smoke condition coming from the basement. Crews investigated and determined that the source of the smoke was a burned-out light fixture in a basement bathroom.

Firefighters performed ventilation of the residence and secured the electrical breakers. The incident was turned over to National Grid for further evaluation.

Units on Scene:

North Syracuse Car1, Engine 4, Rescue 7
Mattydale Squad 4 — RIT Company
Moyers Corners Engine 31
Cicero Engine 1 (cancelled prior to arrival)

All units were clear from the scene at approximately 3:06 a.m.

There were no reported injuries.
