~Mutual Aid Fire~

This morning just before 11am. Mattydale Fire was dispatched with the remainder of the box alarm for a reported house fire in Moyers Corners Fire Department station 2 district. Mattydale car 1 and engine 2 responded as the R.I.T company. Upon arrival of a Moyers Corners chief it was confirmed there was fire showing from the back side of the building striking a signal 99.

Upon arrival of Mattydale R.I.T established in front of the residence. The R.I.T crew confirmed the locations of companies working inside and make sure the residence is open for easier means of egress in case it was needed. Mattydale operated on scene for just under an hour before being released by command.

It's not always life and death emergencies we are called to. Sometimes it's just about helping our community. Today we had a call into the station regarding a dog that had become trapped under the back deck of a home and after an hour of trying the family was exasperated trying to figure out how to get the dog untangled from under the deck. We responded with Car-1 and Squad-4 to help. After we removed some decking material the family was able to get to the dog. May not seem intense to most, but the family was very appreciative! And no damage to the deck! Service to the community comes in all shapes and sizes...

~Mutual Aid Apartment Fire~

This afternoon just after 3pm Hinsdale Volunteer Fire Department was activated for a possible multiple occupancy fire. Mattydale was alerted for Truck-3 along with the remainder of the box alarm assignment. Mattydale car 3 and truck 3 responded. Liverpool car 2 arrived on scene to find smoke showing for an upstairs apartment.

Mattydale truck 3 arrived second due and tasked with primary search and rescue. The truck crew entered the structure along with a crew from Hinsdale engine 8 who deployed a hose line for fire suppression. Units investigated and found a minor fire already extinguished by maintenance personnel in an apartment that is in the process of being renovated. Mattydale set up for ventilation due the amount of smoke in the apartment. While the apartment was being ventilated, Mattydale assisted with repacking supply line and two hose lines. Once able Mattydale was cleared of the scene and returned to service.

The Mattydale Fire Department does not have information regarding the cause of the fire. The photo of units on scene was taken from the Hinsdale Fire Department Facebook post.

Today, we recognize Volunteer Firefighter Appreciation Day and the incredible service of those who step up to protect our communities.

Our volunteer firefighters show extraordinary courage every day. I have always worked to ensure they have the equipment and resources needed to keep our community safe and to protect themselves on the job, and I will continue to stand with them.

~Friday night engine 91~

Last Friday 5/1/2026 7 volunteers staffed the fire house from 6pm till midnight. During the time, the crew was able to replace 1,150 feet of rubber supply line to brand new cloth hose on squad-4, clean the fire house, handle truck checks. Along with answering two calls. A mutual aid EMS alarm, then a transformer/power line issue in Mattydale district. Even with 91 in service and handling the alarms, more volunteers responded to the station and staffed the station just in case of more alarms. While tasks around the fire station were handled the officer of engine 91 was able to also make dinner for the crew.

Engine 91 is a valuable program able to make sure a vehicle is staffed and able to respond quickly to not only the fire district but to mutual aid districts as well to assist one another on alarms. After midnight, Mattydale was still staffed with 4 personnel able to respond to any alarm quickly and efficiently. If you are interested in joining, please reach out to us on Facebook, or visit us at the fire house and speak with one of our members.
