New cover photo. This is St. Mary and All Saints Church in Chesterfield, Derbysire, England. The steeple was built with green wood. When it dried, the steeple became crooked. Church was built in 1234, but the present church is mostly from the 14th Century.
I first did a walk here in the mid-80's. I took my wife there a few years ago so that she could see this unique structure.

We have 6 more walks planned between August and December. All of the walks are at local Metroparks of the Toledo area. These are great, well-groomed trails. Almost all are flat trails, no hills for those wobbly knees.
We put a lot of work into setting these walks up. They are family friendly. You don't have to rush but can take your time and see the nature and sights along the way. Bring friends. Have a picnic!
To continue hosting these events, we need walkers to come and enjoy them. Without walkers, our events will die out.

Our next walk wil be on Sunday, 9 August at Secor Metropark west of Toledo. Starts from 12 noon till 2pm, finish by 5pm. Lots of forest and meadows. Wildlife is everywhere. Bring a camera!

Faith and I were driven to Detroit Airport on Wednesday morning at 7am. We flew from Detroit to LaGuardia, then a taxi from LaGuardia to JFK Airport. Flew to Madrid from JFK, then on to Sevilla, Spain. We arrived at 9:30 this morning. We had to wait an hour for our car rental to be ready to drive away. We drove to our hotel to literally and figuratively charge our batteries. After some needed cleanup and clothes changing, we walked to a bus stop to go to the Sevilla Cathedral. On the way we stopped at the Torre Oro - "Gold Tower". It got its name from sea merchants storing their gold there while in port. We wandered here and there, wherever Faith's camera aim took her. Eventually, we got to the Cathedral. The 8 Euro senior entry fee is so well worth it. We climbed to the top of the tower. Luckily, it is ramps, not stairs. This square tower took a while to get to the top. Many people there too.
I got too tired and took a rest in a chair in the main, side chapel while Faith investigated the whole place. I had been here before. She came back, but her camera battery was nearly done for. We wandered the warren of streets surrounding the Cathedral for a while finally deciding on eating dinner at a Syrian restaurant. Great food! After leaving the restaurant, I thought that Faith would like to see Plaza de España. It is a huge area built in 1928 for the Ibero-American Exposition of 1929. It is a landmark example of Regionalism Architecture, mixing elements of the Baroque Revival, Renaissance Revival and Moorish Revival (Neo-Mudéjar) styles of Spanish architecture. Lots of beautiful ceramic colorful tile work.
When we got near the Plaza, we found out that there was an event going on. Faith heard someone state that there was an entry fee of 88 Euro. Too much for us! Thousands were there and more lining up as we passed by.
From there we walked back to the Guadalquivir River to find a bus stop to go back to our hotel. We got back here at 10pm.
A very long day with naps on the planes and dozing now and then.
Tomorrow, we drive to Arcos de la Frontera, Jerez, and Cadiz to stay overnight in Cadiz. More tomorrow.
