👷‍♂️📚 Tech Ed teachers John Von Wald (AF) and Mike Borreson (Mauston), who lead students in building homes for Habitat for Humanity of Adams and Juneau County, are expanding their knowledge at the Better Buildings Better Business (B4) Conference!

This conference connects them with trade professionals to learn about air quality, net-zero homes, insulation, and more—helping them bring back valuable insights to create better, more efficient homes in our communities. Plus, a career fair offers opportunities to connect students with jobs in the field! ✨

A big THANK YOU to UWSP K-12 Energy Education for sponsoring their attendance and supporting hands-on learning for both teachers and students!

The Advanced Construction Crew is hard at work on this long service workday building and installing walls in the basement to create the various rooms.
The crew would like to thank Bucky's Pizza of Adam's for their support of the program, the deal on the pizzas and the delivery to the job site.

Yesterday, the State Superintendent of Public Instruction, Jill Underly made a visit to the Adams Habitat for Humanity build site to see the progress that students have made in the construction of this new home.

The Superintendent had an opportunity to ask questions to the Crew about what components of the house they've worked on, what got them interested into building and what their future career choices may be.

The Crew would like to thank everyone that came out today to see the build and spend some time with us learning about what we do in this community.

The AFHS Advanced Construction Crew, in partnership with Habitat for Humanity of Adams County, is hard at applying paint to the basement walls on the current build.

Crew members spent many days prepping the walls to get to this point of the project. Crew members had to wash and remove all dust and concrete residue from the remaining sections of the walls after the cutting of window openings into this basement. Members also patched and repaired areas of the walls that had cracks or imperfections in the concrete.

Nice work Crew!

Construction instructors and project supervisors of the Habitat for Humanity Homes in the Adams and Mauston area had a chance to attend the Better Buildings: Better Business conference with other Tech Ed instructors from around Wisconsin. At this conference instructors were able to learn about new topics in the building industry that can be applied to the current and future Habitat houses to build better homes for our future homeowners!
