🚨 WATER SERVICE UPDATE — TOWN OF MAXTON 🚨

Contractors working in the Scotland County area of Maxton have struck a main water line on Old Lumberton Road, resulting in a significant water leak.

Both Maxton & Scotland co departments are aware and actively working with the appropriate crews to address the issue and restore water service as quickly as possible.

💧 The entire Town of Maxton, including both the North and South sides, is currently affected.

At this time, there is no estimated time for restoration.

We sincerely appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding while crews work to resolve this issue. We will provide additional updates as information becomes available.

MAXTON POLICE DEPARTMENT STATEMENT

Maxton, North Carolina — The Maxton Police Department is providing the following update regarding the shooting currently under investigation in the Town of Maxton.

Additional details regarding the charges and circumstances of the individuals, surrounding the incident will be forthcoming as information can be appropriately released.

Interim Chief of Police Patrick Hunt stated:

“Our condolences & prayers are with the victim’s family and everyone affected by this tragic incident. Our investigators have worked diligently to establish the facts surrounding this shooting. We ask the public to allow the investigative process to continue and to provide investigators with any information that may assist in bringing this case to a successful conclusion.”

The department appreciates the assistance and support provided by the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office, Scotland County Sheriff’s Office, and Laurinburg Police Department during this incident.

The 3-day Maxton Ultimate Reunion (MUR) festivities concluded successfully, with no reported incidents. We appreciate everyone who came back home and participated in this year’s festivities.

As our community navigates this difficult time, we ask everyone to continue keeping the victim’s family and the Maxton community in your thoughts and prayers.

🚨 WATER SERVICE UPDATE — RESOLVED 🚨

Attention Residents,

According to the Public Works Department, the water service issue has been resolved. The damaged fire hydrant has been replaced, and the crew has begun restoring water service to affected areas.

Some residents may still experience little to no water pressure as the system returns to normal. Please allow time for the water system to build back up and stabilize.

We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding while crews worked to complete the necessary repairs.

From exciting giveaways and great food tonight was a true celebration of community, unity, and togetherness.
