Congratulations Dania!

🎓 Our next graduate is none other than 2025-2026 Miss Indian World, Dania Wahwasuck (Prairie Band Potawatomi and Pyramid Lake Paiute).

Dania will graduate with a Masters of Art (MA) in Leadership in Diversity & Inclusion and Certificate in Indigenous Educational Leadership.

Her goal is to uplift and inspire Indigenous communities in any capacity. “I think it’s so important to be educated and follow your dreams. I plan to further my education and skill set in fashion & design at an art institute and I will also be pursuing my PHD in the near future.”

Dania is also in the running for Miss Kansas. Support her campaign at this years pageant in Pratt, KS. ❤️💙

FYI!

Big news for Indigenous students and higher education in Kansas📚

Starting July 1, 2026, eligible students who are enrolled members of Tribal Nations with ties to Kansas can qualify for in-state tuition at Kansas public colleges and universities—regardless of where they live. This continued opportunity was made possible through partnership with the Kansas Advisory Council for Indian Education (KACIE) and the Kansas Board of Regents and was passed by the 2026 Kansas Legislature.

✔️ Applies to members of specific Kansas-based Nations and many federally recognized Tribes with historic connections to Kansas
✔️ Includes students attending Kansas public higher education institutions

Important to know:
➡️ This provision covers tuition only (not financial aid eligibility)
➡️ Students should connect with registrar offices and financial aid offices for details, or offices like OSPII and Hawk Link
➡️ Currently in effect through June 30, 2027

This is a meaningful step toward increasing access and honoring the deep, ongoing connections between Tribal Nations and Kansas lands. đź’›
